Lets Get Ready to Ramble
Harper’s Fitness is supporting Get Walking Day 2009 on 30th May, 2009 by launching a new walking programme, which will prepare participants for the ups and downs of a countryside walk.
Recent NHS findings have shown that there has been a 15% rise in obesity amongst adults (aged 16 and over) since 1993 with 24% of all UK adults now classified as obese. In addition to these findings, Diabetes UK has recently announced that someone every 3 minutes is diagnosed with diabetes.
It is hoped that the Harper’s Walking Programme will inspire and motivate Harpers Fitness customers – old and new to start walking to overcome potential health problems and overcome the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Get Walking Day 2009 will see thousands of people of all ages take part in hundreds of short walks being held across the UK. Each walk is under five miles long and will include free refreshments and special events to celebrate the day – for more information about your local walk visit www.ramblers.org.uk/campaigns/GWD
Kevin Yates, Harpers Fitness Brand Manager said: “Walking is an extremely effective form of exercise as it’s very simple and accessible to a wide range of people of varying levels of fitness.
