Harpers Fitness supports the launch of the FIA’s More Active for Life Campaign
16-Jun-09
Harpers Fitness is fully supporting the launch of the Fitness Industry Association’s (FIA) More Active for Life Campaign by hosting family fun weekends this weekend (27-28 June) at all of its centres.
Designed to help people take the first step in becoming more active more often, families will receive a free day pass to their local centre, a free personal training session and a 6 week gym based activity programme which can be downloaded from the Harpers Fitness website at www.harpersfitness.co.uk.
The FIA’s More Active for Life Campaign works in partnership with the Department of Health’s £275 million campaign designed to tackle obesity in the UK. Harpers Fitness has designed its Get Active weekends to support this drive by giving people useful tips and advice on how they can “eat well, move more and live longer.”
Research suggests that around 50% of the population are inactive and don’t gain any health benefits from being active or exercising. On current trends 50% of the adult population will be obese by 2050 putting a huge strain on the NHS. The aim is that by taking action now we can reverse this trend, save the NHS billions of pounds and all see the benefits of eating well and being more active.
Our aim is to help more people become more active more often and we fully support the More Active for Life Campaign. Our Get Active family fun weekends will provide the perfect introduction for people looking to take the first step in helping themselves and their family become more active. They will provide family-based, fun and accessible activities for people of all abilities whether you are marathon fit or stepping from the sofa for the first time.
