Free Swimming Initiative
11-Mar-09
Harpers Fitness is supporting the Government’s swim4life campaign which launches in April.

The campaign is linked to the nationwide Change4Life campaign which aims to help people to lead more active, healthy lives in the UK by making swimming more accessible for millions of people across the UK.
The £140 million programme lasts for two years and is a central part of plans to ensure a lasting legacy from the London Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. It is hoped that free swimming will help to introduce more people to the sport as a way of leading a healthier lifestyle.
Harpers will provide free swimming as directed by each of its local authority partners from the 1st April 2009 as part of the Government’s initiative. Swimming is a fantastic way to keep fit and can be the perfect addition to a healthy lifestyle. The free swimming campaign supported by swim4 life is fantastic as it will encourage people to make a concerted effort to become more active and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Swimming is one of the most popular ways for people in this country to keep fit. Your body works harder in the water, so 30 minutes in the pool is worth 45 minutes activity on dry land. This is a great way of staying healthy, however good a swimmer you are. Swimming’s also low impact, which makes it great for people who have problems with their joints or find exercise difficult
We are expecting free swimming to be extremely popular when it’s launched in April and are advising those interested to register before the launch at their local centre. By working in partnership with our Local Authority Partners the free swimming we hope the programme will be very successful and a great benefit to communities across the country.
