Harpers Strike hits the TV!

Stars of Harpers Strike, Danny Ball and Liam Richards appeared on the legendary BBC children’s television programme Blue Peter in March.

Performing alongside Danny and Liam were two of our students, Abbie Barnes (11) from Chelmsford, Essex (Blackwater Leisure Centre, Maldon) and Amari Martin (9) from Harrow, Greater London (Willesden Leisure Centre).

Abbie joined the Harpers Strike classes at Harpers at Blackwater Leisure Centre when Harpers launched the initiative in January 2009 and she’s been hooked ever since! “I was so excited about being on Blue Peter,” said Abbie, “I’ve never been on TV before and now I’ve been on TV and performed with Strike! I practiced really hard, especially my front kicks and blocks, and got to show the presenters my favourite move. It was a great day and I’m really pleased with my Blue Peter badge!”

Both Danny and Liam really enjoyed their appearance on Blue Peter, “Blue Peter was always one of those shows I used to watch as a kid and really pay attention to,” says Danny, “We’re hoping children who saw us perform will want to get to grips with what we’re about and be encouraged to get off the sofa and find out if their local Harpers gym offers our classes!”

Harpers Strike is a fusion of martial arts techniques and pre-choreographed routines to music. The fun-based classes have been developed exclusively for Harpers Fitness in association with Danny Ball and Liam Richards from ‘Strike’ made famous by their spellbinding performances on ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ show.
