Hi, my name is Rebecca. I am one of the gym instructors/personal trainers here at parklands leisure centre. I have always been very enthusiastic about sport and exercise from a young age so feel free to chat to me about anything.
After gaining GCSE and A-Levels in PE at school I went on to Study Sports Education and science at the University of Gloucestershire and attained a BSc with honours degree.
Some of the modules I studied included; Sports nutrition, Dietetics, Sports coaching, Human Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Sports injuries and lifelong Physical activity. During that time I also completed many sports coaching qualifications allowing me to go to California to coach football.
Since Leaving I have now completed my NVQ level 3 advance gym instructor/personal training course.
I have been playing and training in hockey for 13 years now representing at county, regional and national standard. I also participate in a range of other sports; squash, cycling, tennis, netball, skiing and running to name a few, expanding my knowledge and understanding of different sports first hand. I have now started coaching at both hockey and football teams of all ages sharing tips and knowledge of fitness and applying it to the sport.
During my time at university I ran the Universities hockey club, having to organise training sessions, matches, fitness sessions and strength and conditioning for the higher level teams.

Hi, my name is James I am one of the Personal Trainers here at Parklands. I am very enthusiastic about fitness and training so please don’t be afraid to chat with me related to exercise!!! Whether it be weight loss, toning, or muscle building I can build you a safe and effective programme to help you reach your goals!
I qualified with Y.M.C.A at level 2 gym instructor award; I then went on to complete my level 3 Personal Trainer award. During this time I have completed modules such as Nutrition, Bones and Joints, the Cardio and Respiratory systems, Muscles and Muscle Actions. I have also completed a NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification).
I have been interested in sports and fitness from a young age. I started out at 15 where my passion for rugby took off, playing for Cornwall U16, South West U16 and England U16. I went on to play for Devon and South West U18.From there I was lucky enough to be invited to the Bath Rugby Academy Group. I moved on from the sport, but still love watching!
My hobbies include Body Building, watching films, playing poker, listening to music, spending time with my friends and family, and watching my brother play championship rugby for the Cornish Pirates.
