The Ascent

 NK Outreach’s new indoor climbing facility named The Ascent was officially opened on the 6th December 2010.

The Ascent is located at the North Kesteven Centre; Moor Lane; North Hykeham and is a converted squash court.

The Ascent is a modern indoor climbing room with:

• 13 Climbing Lines and 26 routes
• Routes are graded from 2A to 7B
• 2 bouldering routes which enable climbers to traverse the whole room!
• Top Rope and Lead Climbing available
• Quickdraws have been set up on 4 of the hardest routes
• Two overhangs and one step challenge

This facility has been designed to cater for all climbing abilities as there will be a mixture of the following sessions.

Sportivate Scale the Ascent sessions for all aged 14 – 19 years!

Extreme NK has successfully bid for another set of Scale the Ascent sessions. Extreme NK will be delivering 2 six week courses for young people aged 14 – 19 years. If you are interested booking is essential, contact the NK Outreach team on 01522 870252 or email extremenk@leisureconnection.co.uk

Please note if you are interested you need to attend 5 out of the 6 sessions per course. Max of 12 climbers per course

Regular Ascent instructed sessions

Come along for some indoor climbing for instructed sessions, there is sure to be a climbing experience available for all aged 5 – 19 years. All climbing equipment is provided; wear tight comfortable trainers or plimsolls for best climbing experience.

Parental Consent & Self Register forms

Please click below to download a consent form and ensure your child or young person brings it with them when they attend the session for the first time. Please note if aged 5 – 8 years the form must be signed by a parent or guardian and the adult must observe the activity from the Ascent viewing gallery. If aged 9 or above the young person can self register and attend as an individual.

 

Ascent Casual Climbing

The wall is available for climbers to use on a paired basis if belaying and solo climbing but only traversing. All participants must complete a BMC declaration of competence and must be able to do the following:

• Be aged 18 years or older
• Be able to do a rethreaded figure of 8 knot
• Put on a harness and helmet correctly
• Belay safely

Ascent Casual Climbing Guidelines
• One competent climber can take responsibility for up to 2 guests (including children under the age of 18)
• Guests must complete our Ascent guest form
• No loose chalk can be used (ball chalk recommended)

• Price for all climbers (any age) - £5 (which includes harness; helmet and belay device if required)


Ascent Exclusive Bookings

The wall is available for exclusive use; e.g. for Birthday parties; team building; clubs or corporate days). Sessions include instruction and equipment. Food can also be included upon request

Each booking will last 90 minutes

For 1 – 6 climbers and one instructor - £75 + VAT
For 7 – 12 climbers and two instructors - £100 + VAT
For 13 – 18 climbers and three instructors - £125 + VAT
